Diamond Cutting Element 1613 1616 PDC Non-Planar Face Cutter Ridged cutter
PDC cutters constitute the basic cutting unit of PDC bits, and their performance is crucial to the drilling effect of PDC bits. The Ridged diamond cutting element has a unique geometry that combines the shearing action of conventional PDC cutters with the compression of tungsten carbide inserts (TCI).
1. Increased Cutting Efficiency: Achieves at least 22% deeper penetration to provide higher instantaneous ROP. The ridge-shaped geometry yields a diamond table 70% thicker than conventional cutters.
2. Enhanced Directional Control: Reduced cutting force translates to less overall torque and better toolface control in curve applications, maximizing production zone exposure.
PDC Cutters are made from tungsten carbide substrate and synthetic diamond grit. It is synthesized using High Temperature and High Pressure (HTHP) with a cobalt alloy catalyst. During cooling, the tungsten carbide shrinks 2.5 times faster than the diamond, creating a powerful mechanical bond.
