Product Description

Product Overview

API 9 3/4" Drilling Bit, 248mm PDC Bit, 6 Blades

The PDC bit utilizes the mechanical properties of rock, using an efficient shearing method to break the rock. This achieves faster drilling compared to traditional crushing methods. In soft to intermediate formations, the compact cutting teeth overcome formation stress, sliding forward under weight-on-bit (WOB) and torque to produce large cuttings efficiently transported by mud jetting.

Installation Instructions

1
Check for any damage or cutter issues from the previous bit use. Ensure the well bottom is clean of any hard materials.
2
Verify cutters and ensure O-rings are present in the nozzle holes. Install nozzles as per requirements.
3
Clean the bit threads (male/female) and apply high-quality thread oil.
4
Install the unloader and lower the drill string to align and make up the threads.
5
Secure the bit in the turntable bushing and tighten to the recommended torque value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the primary drilling mechanism of this PDC bit?

A1: The PDC bit uses a shearing mechanism rather than crushing. Since rock tensile and shear strengths are much lower than compressive strength, shearing is a more efficient way to break rock, leading to faster drilling speeds.

Q2: What materials are used for the bit body and cutters?

A2: The drill body is manufactured from high-grade 42CrMo alloy steel, while the cutting elements are made of Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) for maximum wear resistance.

Q3: For which types of formations is this bit best suited?

A3: This 6-blade PDC bit is ideally designed for formations with soft to intermediate hardness, where its shearing action can be fully utilized.

Q4: What are the connection specifications for the 9-3/4" bit?

A4: It features a standard 6-5/8" API REG connector, ensuring compatibility with standard oil well drilling strings.

Q5: How is the product protected during shipping?

A5: The bits are packed in durable iron boxes to prevent any physical damage during transport, with a gross package weight of approximately 160kg for this specific model.

Q6: Does the product meet international quality standards?

A6: Yes, the production process is certified under ISO 9001:2000 and has been inspected by SGS to ensure global quality compliance.
